Internet of vehicles or IOV is widely regarded as an ubiquitous trend of the Intelligent Transportation Systems to encompass transport safety and abate accidents inherent in automotive society. However, forecasting that a large fraction of the population seeks connected vehicles, the vehicular communications may be overdue owing to the limited channels available on the IEEE 802.11p standard spectrum. In this work, we analyze how dynamic access spectrum in cognitive radio can promote the spectrum resources opportunities in IOV communications for unlicensed users by averting detrimental interferences for primary users. A comparative study between cognitive IOV approaches based on spectrum sensing is the nub of this work.
