Design of a suspension system for a formula student race car
Ingi Níels Karlsson · 2018
Team Sleipnir formula student team of Reykjavik University is a team of 30 students whose aim is to build a car and compete in the Formula Student competition UK held at Silverstone circuit. Although the team is fairly young and is taking part in its third competition the team finished 15th overall out of 75 teams in last competition. The aim of this thesis is to design, optimize and build the suspension system for the 2018 car. To be able to design a suspension system background research will be performed to understand the theory behind the suspension geometry and what results should be expected by changing the suspension geometry with the help of MSC Adams Car. Individual components will be designed using Autodesk Inventor and 3D model created of the suspension system. FEA analysis will be used to optimize the parts along with hand calculations. Most suspension components will be manufactured at the university workshop.; hafa það markmið að smiða kappakstursbil til að taka þatt i Formula Student keppni haldinni a Silverstone brautinni i Bretlandi. Þo liðið se ungt og stefni a að taka þatt i sinni þriðju keppni i sumar þa endaði liðið i 15. saeti af 75 i keppninni i fyrra. Markmið þessa verkefnis er að hanna og smiða fjoðrunarkerfi fyrir keppnis bill þessa ars. Til að geta hannað fjoðrunarkerfi þarf að vinna undirbuningsvinnu i að kynna ser fraeðina a bakvið fjoðrunarkefi og hvaða eiginleikum se haegt að reikna með við akveðnar breitingar auk hermunar með MSC Adams Car[4]. Einstakir hlutar fjoðrunarkerfissins verða hannaðir i Autodesk Inventor og þrividdar model sett saman af heildar fjoðrunarkerfinu. Greiningar a einstokum hlutum fjoðrunarkerfissins verða framkvaemdar og notast við einingaaðferðina við burðarþolsgreiningar auk handreikninga þar sem það a við. Ihlutir fjoðrunarkerfissins verða smiðaðir a verkstaeði skolanns.
