We propose a model of employee response to the use of customer big data. In particular we address the issue of avoiding disillusionment among employees when the real use of big data is known to be used to influence customers preferences in predatory ways. We review work done in the general literature on big data and the internet of things as well as customers views on collecting their data. We then conclude with a proposed model and determine that a predatory use of customer data will not necessarily lead to employee disillusionment as long as that real use is also clearly communicated to the customer.
