A Collaborative Platform for Secure Video Distribution

Carlos Alberto Orta-Cruz, Francisco de Asís López-Fuentes · 2018

Irruption of a new generation of devices and new interaction channels during the last years has significantly increased the generation and consumption of online digital video. Under these scenarios, video providers need to adapt video for variable conditions of the network and heterogeneity of devices. Nowadays, video is distributed through software applications based on the client-server model, which has several limitations such a high cost, privacy, limited scalability and fault tolerance. In addition, client-server model limits collaboration and sharing of resources between users. An alternative solution to deal with these challenges is the peer-to-peer (P2P) networks. However, security is a major limitation in this type of networks. This paper explain how several software tools are integrated to build a collaborative platform for video distribution based on scalable video and security techniques.
