A review on the application of augmented reality in craniomaxillofacial surgery

As a new technology from the development of VR (Virtual Reality), AR (Augmented Reality) has been focused on various industries and research institutions in recent years, and got greater development. Augmented reality with 3d registration has been applied in many areas. This article mainly talks about AR’s application in craniomaxillofacial surgery in recent years, introduces preoperative and intraoperative navigation application of VR and AR, and summarizes the key technology of AR: Display, Registration, Interaction. Then we discusses the currently existing problems in the application of AR technology in surgery and prospect the development trend of AR technology in surgical application.
