Estimation of primitive polynomial for m-sequence with finite sequence length

In this paper, a method of estimation of the primitive polynomial for m sequence is presented in radar systems under the condition that the received sequence length is limited. By using the iteration relation of shift register, a group of linear equations are constructed and the solution represents the coefficients of primitive polynomial. Simulations illustrated that the proposed method can applied in the scenario of short received sequence, and has better performance even there are errors in the received sequence.
