Multi-scale direct envelope inversion using signed-demodulation

Multi-scale direct envelope inversion was proposed using new envelope Fréchet derivative and multi-scale inversion strategy to solve the shortcomings of conventional envelope inversion. However, in the multi-scale direct envelope inversion, only use amplitude demodulation will cause the loss of wavefield polarity information, thus increasing the possibility of inversion to obtain multiple solutions. In this paper we proposed a signed demodulation method to recover the polarity information of the envelope data. Then we introduced this signed demodulation method into multi-scale direct envelope inversion, and proposed a new misfit function: multi-scale signed envelope inversion.
