A Brief Representation of an N-Segmented Display Model for Bengali Compound Letters with Undistorted Shapes

Saif Hannan, Muhammad Nurul Islam, Md. Akramul Hoque Sumon · 2018

Segmented display systems are popular for showing short messages on different electronic devices. Many research works have been done for English letters and numerals for segmented display system, but a few are done for Bengali letters. Compound letters are in some cases essential to deliver a Bengali message on a segmented display system, but the models designed till now are barely distinguishable for their compromised shapes. We have proposed an N-segmented display model for mostly used 113 Bengali compound letters with their precise shapes and derived the simplified logical expressions for all segments, which can be used for IC fabrication for the display system. Also, we have compared our model with all related published works and have shown visible improvements in case of better shapes of the letters and found the segments-to-letter ratio as 2.61 which is comparatively less in considering better understandable and undistorted shapes of the letters.
