W-ETX: Worst-case Expected Transmission Count routing protocol for convergecast WSNs

Hamadoun Tall, Gérard Chalhoub, Michel Misson · 2018

Wireless Sensor Networks are often used for data collection applications. When nodes are out of range of the sink, they have to use multi-hop routing. We propose a load balancing routing protocol called Worst-case Expected Transmission Count (W-ETX) based on the quality of the links. W-ETX integrates a traffic load balancing scheme and an active queue monitoring that help to avoid congestion and queue overflow. We evaluate the performance of W-ETX by means of simulations. Results show that W-ETX achieves better network performance compared to standard ETX routing protocol and RPL.
