Energy Selected Transmitter RF Fingerprint Estimation in Multi-Antenna OFDM Systems

Radio frequency fingerprint (RFF) is an inherent characteristic of wireless devices, and has been used for device identification. However, the wireless channel will distort the RFF, and limit the effective working range of RFF technology. The existing ESPRIT-based RFF estimation (ERFFE) algorithm can separate RFF from wireless channels. Since ERFFE considers calculating RFF from each path, it not only increases the computational complexity, but also increases the number of antennas required. In this paper, we propose an energy selected ERFFE algorithm based on multi-path energy distribution, which can effectively reduce the required number of antennas and further improve the RFF estimation performance. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can accurately estimate RFF in the case of fewer antennas and has better performance than ERFFE algorithm.
