Wireless sensor network is rapidly growing technology in military, industry, medical, security and surveillance applications. It is mostly used in unattended hostile environment to detect, track, monitor, collect intruder activity as per various application requirements. Sensor nodes in data gathering wireless sensor networks are battery dependent. Most of the time battery replacement or charging of battery is not feasible in unattended condition so to prolong the network lifetime analysis of dead nodes is necessary. Once the analysis is studied, one can apply optimization techniques to improve lifetime of network. When node closer to sink node drain battery quickly due to heavy traffic load, energy hole problem occurs and whole network causes premature death hence performance highly degraded. In this paper, dead nodes, packet loss, energy consumption of dead nodes are simulated on network simulator using Double Cost based Function Routing(DCFR) and results are compared with Greedy Geographic Routing(GGR).
