Settlement Detection Using Convolutional Neural Networks on the Digitalglobe Geospatial Big Data Platform

We present a method for settlement detection on very high resolution RGB mosaics using convolutional neural networks and the DigitalGlobe Geospatial Big Data Platform. The method is applied on an area of interest exceeding 1 million km2and spanning multiple countries, with estimated precision and recall on the order of 90%.
