The paper tackles the designing and developing of an assistive monitoring system for elderly people inside a smart kitchen. This kind of system makes the tasks easier and more comfortable. A state of the art referring to the AAL - Ambient Assisting Living - approaches was done. The infrastructure for collecting the data, hardware and software components, as well as the user interface and the human factor were described. The system architecture is presented, containing the sensor network, home system, user interfaces, main server, and other service providers. The home system's basic software infrastructure, together with the software components and the services for the sensors network are detailed. Also, the mechanism for crossorigin resource sharing is presented. The system is also a part of a more evolved assistive&smart system, in two paradigms: the AAL assistive paradigm and the smart house paradigm. The conclusions are issued.
