Single Sea Surface Image Dehazing Using Multi-scale Cascaded Convolutional Neural Network

Most of the sea surface images are characterized by sky and sea water, and the color is monotonous so that the haze is often unevenly distributed, so the sea surface images dehazing are especially challenging. This paper presents a novel multi-scale cascaded network structure that can directly restore clear images from original hazy images without estimating the transmission map. The dehazed image is clearly sharper, so that the target on the sea can be better identified. The dehazing performances of our proposed method are evaluated on synthetic images as well as real sea surface images and also compared with other state-of-the-art techniques.
