The web is an evolving system that incorporates new components and services at a very rapid pace. Web applications and Web services increase the traffic in the communication channels at an even higher rate. Millions of requests are received by well-known websites. The high response times that are exhibited by these websites can create frustration for their users. The website's administrators face the problem of adequate sizing of their infrastructure in order to provide quality service for their users. This challenge forces them to keep track of the performance of their websites, as well as the web services offered by them. Hence, it is required to estimate the intensity of the workload, to identify bottlenecks and determine capacity shortcomings. This helps in determining the most effective way to improve the performance by providing solutions for increasing workload demands. In this paper, we describe a process model to integrate SPE with web services development model. A framework is proposed to support the process model, and the elements of the framework are presented. The framework provides flexibility to apply SPE methodologies on web services development model for predicting the performance in various aspects of web services. The Travel care web application is considered to demonstrate the elements of the framework. The performance metrics is obtained and analysed. Sensitivity analysis is carried out to study the behavior of the hardware resources so that the capacity of the deployment environment can be determined.
