An Overview of Security in Internet of Things

Internet of things (IoT) technology has apparently transformed our well being by optimistically integrating us with the ‘smart things’ around, which was beforehand considered as mere devices. It has enabled ‘things’ to envisage the requirements and cater to it according. Hence it is widely accepted and employed in all aspect of our lives; including home automation, health care, security and surveillance and so on. Huge amount of data is generated through these applications and always there is a threat related to the security and privacy of these data. This paper highlights the major security issues and gives an overview of the current state of art of the security algorithms in IoT. A strategy to increase security based on Elliptic Curve Cryptography is also mentioned in brief.
