Deep Space Communication (DSC) is communication between a node on the earth and another node on space-craft on another planet, beyond earth gravitation field. In order to ascertain the message delivery between nodes placed among the planets a reliable routing mechanism need to be enforced. The routing protocols in existencefor DSC belongs to the flooding family, as they flood the messages in the environment regardless of the destination’s position. This paper presents the performance analysis of Epidemic, Prophet, Spray & Wait routing protocols Beside these metrics, the influence of buffer size, time to live and message/packet size on performance of aforementioned protocols has also been analysed. The simulations have been performed on ONE Simulator. It was observed that the Epidemic routing protocol shows better delivery probability with increasing buffer size. The varying TTL size in turn increases overhead ration and average latency is also increased while delivery probability degrades in a manner. Spray & Wait has high delivery probability and low overhead as buffer size increases but it has higher average latency.
