RCDSD: RSA Based Cross Domain Secure Deduplication on Cloud Storage

The use of data deduplication is crucial for the modern scenario of distributed cloud storage. Deduplication helps in reducing storage and communications overheads both from the client as well as the server perspective. Most of the deduplication schemes are meant to be used on one controlling storage server. But in a deployment scenario where data centres can be spread across different countries and jurisdictions, a scheme is required which can be applied to a distributed environment. In this paper we propose a scheme RSA based Cross Domain Secure Deduplication (RCDSD), of coordination between distributed storage managers without revealing too much information about the actual data stored by the clients. The coordination part is handled by employing an interactive protocol of mutual cooperation between the servers without using any third party as a trusted nominee in order to reduce possibilities of security breaches and making it easier for addition of new capacity. RSA is used to facilitate encrypted tag passage between servers and clients to mitigate danger from brute force attacks. Our scheme also provides identity authentication of both client and server as well as a check for the integrity of data.
