Channel-Aware MAC Protocol for Cognitive Radio Sensor Networks

In cognitive radio sensor networks (CRSNs), unused licensed frequency bands are opportunistically utilized in addition to unlicensed frequency bands. In this paper, a novel medium access control (MAC) protocol for CRSNs is proposed, which chooses a robust channel among multiple unused licensed channels via a simple selection algorithm. Our performance study shows that the proposed MAC outperforms the conventional MAC for CRSNs.
