The revolution in the field of information technology has created the possibility to approach local network design in a new way. Owing to diverse solutions available at the market, it is possible to choose a desired network design according to users' demands. This paper presents the methodology which enables the description of the relation between users' demands and a local network which should satisfy them. The methodology offers criteria for considering a number of tactical and technical parameters which must be taken into account during local network design. It is developed by applying the SADT (Structured Analysis and Design Technique).
