Main Objectives and Design Problems in future High Data Rate Mobile Communications Systems

: Mobility and Broadband Communications are becoming increasingly important. The potentials of present Mobile Communications Systems confine to dedicated services like voice communication with limited data communication capabilities or wireless LANs (WLAN) . Due to the heterogeneous communication requirements, known from the Broadband-ISDN (BISDN) developement (continuous or bursty traffic characteristics, bandwidth, Quality of Service, QoS), the system has to be designed in particular under aspects of subscriber mobility and application bandwidth. This paper concerns to the design of Mobile Broadband Communications Systems in 60 GHz frequency band. Main design objectives are explained and technical problems discussed. 1.
