Design of Lattice Filters Sections

The matrix representation of digital circuits of arbitrary structure is used to obtain lattice filter structures transfer functions. Based on these expressions a number of equations connecting transfer function and structure coefficients are formed. The equations are used to calculate the structure coefficients from the values of transfer function coefficients obtained from some approximation procedures. For example they can be calculated using classical approximations such as Butterworth, Chebyshev, Cauer or other. Two lattice structures are considered. The presented structures allow implementation of both poles and zeros. So they are suited to implementation of a large class of digital filters. Some limitations of the structures are analysed.
