A Wearable Integrated System for Monitoring the Elder's Physiological Information, Falling Over Alarm and Life Entertainment

Unintentional falls over may cause severe injury in the elderly people. In this paper, we proposed a wearable integrated system for monitoring the elder's physiological information, falling over alarm and life entertainment. By using electronic information technology, we realised a real time detection of the elder's current posture and movement. If the emergency of falling over occasions, the system can send a message including the location of the elderly to their families through GSM module. Furthermore, the system is integrated with entertainment functions, such as FM radio, real time clock, temperature measurement, pedometer, heart rate monitor. Experimental results demonstrated that the average true positive rate and false activation rate are all satisfied. Therefore, the proposed system is fit for the elder people and helps them to promote their life quality.
