Security Vulnerability Analysis using Ontology-based Attack Graphs

Attack graph helps in modeling security vulnerabilities and identifying possible paths in an enterprise network that can be used by an attacker to exploit the network vulnerabilities for achieving his target goal. In this paper, we use ontology for the attack graph to analyze security vulnerabilities in enterprise network. The main advantage of using ontological approach for attack graphs is that it covers all possible aspects and the knowledge provided by the attack graph. The proposed approach can be used in any networks for analyzing potential threats of the networks. We compare the proposed approach with the conventional attack graphs and show the strengths of the proposed approach while analyzing the network for security vulnerabilities.
