Blind1 people are cognitively restricted in the perception of physical and social environment, which results in several negative consequences. For example, such restrictions can create following situations in household: the people cannot react to eye contact with another person or they cannot see social interactions happening around. These problems can be addressed by the design of home ambient intelligent (AmI) system. This paper introduces the possibilities of the special module of the AmI system RUDO, which uses notification sounds to extend the spatial and social context of people with blindness in a household. The system enables a new way of perceiving not only the surroundings but also the social context of certain situations. On this basis, the person with blindness is able to better respond and engage in communication and social life. The aim of the paper is to present how is the solution designed and contribute to knowledge on design of scene recognition system for people with blindness. The results of the pilot deployment of the prototype AmI system show that using of notification sounds expanded and strengthened the relationships between the sighted and the person with blindness in the household and improve the social inclusion of the blind person.
