Elliptic curves as an area of elementary mathematical study are primarily simply understood, but disclose startling complexity when considered over different fields. Cryptography in general has been used in a widesense stretching from government secrets and personal device such as mobile phones and personal computer encryption as well as smart cards. This paper gives a basic introduction to elliptic curve cryptography (ECC)and its applications in cryptography. Elliptic curve cryptography has exactly the desired properties that help in making secured messages hardly to be hacked.
