Double Threshold-Based Energy Detection Spectrum Sensing Scheme by Considering the Sensing History in Confusion Region

Cognitive radio turns out to be effective technology for not just sensing the spectrum but also enables one to use it. Spectrum sensing can be performed by using conventional energy detection method which uses single threshold for detecting the presence or absence of the signal, but its performance degrades at low SNR. Therefore, to address this problem, a double threshold based spectrum sensing which considers sensing history in confusion region is presented here. The test statistic is compared to these two thresholds and accordingly the decision is made about the presence of primary user. Simulation results show that proposed double threshold method is comparatively better than the double threshold method and single threshold detection method.
