Rule-based Automatic Text Simplification for German

Automatic text simplification is capable of rendering texts comprehensible and accessible to persons with difficulties in reading and processing written language.In this paper, we report on the development of a rulebased automatic text simplification system for German.We show that the complexity of the output of our system is comparable to that of simplifications produced by a human.
