This research study focuses on explaining the optimization on underwater image enhancement technique by combining Wavelength Compensation and Image Dehazing (WCID) and wavelength transformation technique. Image enhancement as an activity of revamping standards of input image for better understanding of the future viewers. Image enhancement is said to upgrade the information content of the image & modifies the visual effect of the image on the watcher. The characteristics of the image are observed to be intensified by the process of image enhancement. Image enhancement emphasizes the image features like brightness, contrast, display, edges of the photographs more useful for study and examination purposes. Contrast stretching, noise filtering, pseudo coloring and noise clipping are some of the important operations that are included in the image enhancement process. Underwater images are generally affected with poor visibility, poor clarity and poor color contrast. This is said to occur because of refraction and scattering of light when entering from rarer into a denser medium. Such adverse effects on underwater images are not only due to the nature of the water but also due to other organisms and particles present in the water.
