High Level Data Fusion Architecture for Threat Assessment in Scenarios with Manouverable Aerial Targets

José Fernando Basso Brancalion · 2018

The purpose of an Air Defense System is to evaluate the air scenario, identify hostile aircraft that represent a real danger to resources and people of one country. Decision makers in such system are faced today with the challenge of processing and evaluating an increasing amount of data originating from different sources. This work is related to the reconnaissance (including the automatic identification and classification) of targets with hostile behaviors in relation to one point of interest located on the ground. This paper proposes one high level data fusion architecture for an Air Defense System providing the detection, classification and evaluation of the threatening level represented by each hostile aircraft. The proposed architecture also includes an automatic planning tool which provides plans to support the decision making process.
