An Efficient Query Optimization for Object Oriented Database

Query processing in Object Oriented Database management system is an active research area. Query Optimizer is very complex module in query processing which is programmed to optimize query execution. In this paper the design and implementation of Query Optimizer using C# .NET of Object Oriented databases is described. A novel method “Extent_Hash Search” for direct access in object oriented database is proposed. In the proposed method, a query is searched using the ExtentIds which shows an improvement with respect to earlier query optimization techniques. Same method gives better performance for nested query too.
