Automated Characters Recognition and Family Relationship Extraction from Stories

This paper presents the rule based approach to identify characters from the story and determine the family relationship among them. This approach follows basic steps of Natural Language Processing that includes Tokenization, POS tagging, sentence parsing followed by the pronoun resolution implementing various algorithms and finally extracting entities and family relation among them. The relations extracted are set to propagation using various set of rules. This work done can act as a base for story summarization, question answering, grasping the insight of story and analysis of characters of story and as well family relationship tree generation of history based stories.
