CPNs Based Reliability Modeling for On-Demand Computing Based Transaction Processing

Dharmendra Prasad Mahato · 2018

In recent years, on-demand computing based transaction processing system has grown rapidly with ever stringent requirements to overcome the challenges to the enterprises to meet fluctuating demands efficiently. Concepts such as grid computing, utility computing, autonomic computing, and adaptive management seem very similar to the concept of on-demand computing. Load balanced scheduling and reliability modeling in such environments is a challenge. This paper takes the example of grid transaction processing (GTP) system with the problem of load balanced scheduling modeling and reliability evaluation. We use coloured Petri nets (CPNs) to model the load balanced scheduling in the GTP system. We also propose a method for reliability analysis of the GTP system. The instance of the proposed model for the GTP system is analyzed using CPN Tools.
