Learning Anytime, Anywhere through Technology
Timothy D. Green, Loretta Donovan · 2018
This chapter focuses on understanding students, the learning environment, and the interactions within and between them, specifically considering the role of technology in these interactions. It also focuses on the students in classrooms—the iMaker Generation. The Maker Movement has directly influenced the formation of the iMaker Generation. The chapter provides a discussion of the characteristics and dispositions of these students. It looks at the focus of instructional and educational technology use in the classroom, and close with a discussion of what the authors consider to be pockets of innovative practice currently occurring in P-12 educational ecosystems. The chapter provides a starting point for the ideas—rather than as an additional dichotomy of how different they are from previous generations and how different they are from those who help educate them. It depicts the various elements of the technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) Framework.
