In this thesis the Perceived Quality of Service of streamed audio is investigated. A nonintrusive mathematical model that objectively computes the perceived quality based on time and burst size factors is developed and tested. A mobile application for receiving MP3 audio streams packaged in Application Data Units and sent over RTP/UDP via the UMTS network is developed. A statistical survey to verify the model on a 30 second music sample with different packet loss patterns is done and the conclusion is that the quality is perceived by the user as really bad when packet loss bursts occurs in many short bursts rather then a few longer. Packet loss that occurs in the middle of the 30 second sample is considered worst as opposed to the end or beginning. The correlation coefficient of the model to the PQoS of the samples used during the tests is 0.98.
