Analytics in Testing Communication Systems
Gilli Shama · 2018
Communication systems require high quality, which is why the telecom and media industry captures 16% of the testing services market. This chapter focuses on analytics for communication service provider's (CSPs) including descriptive analytics based on metrics, benchmarks, and data visualization, as well as diagnostic capabilities. It begins with a discussion and examples of both metrics to report on end of release results and metrics for monitoring the progress of testing. This will be followed by examples of using analytics to predict testing progress trends. The chapter provides an example from an analytics-based system that supports automation of smart test design. It describes trend predictions in two measurements over time: defect detection rate; and defect closure rate. The chapter demonstrates prediction models in the world of telecom and media software testing. It shows how analytics predictions can be applied to intelligent automation of testing activities.
