One major benefit of named-data networking (NDN) is its potential to control network load by leveraging in-network caching and request aggregation. Both the network operator and consumers benefit from these features, as operating costs are reduced and quality-of-experience is increased. However, request aggregation, combined with NDN's loop prevention mechanisms, can create denial-of- service (DoS) against client interests (intentionally and unintentionally) by clients employing multicast forwarding. In this paper, we discuss this problem and propose three increasingly efficient solutions to address the problem; our arguments are backed by simulation and numerical analyses.
