Real-time implementation of an IFD scheme for motorcycle sensors

Domenico Capriglione, Marco Carratù, Antonio Pietrosanto, Paolo Sommella · 2018

The paper describes the firmware implementation, on a low cost general purpose ARM-based microcontroller, of a Nonlinear Auto-Regressive with eXogenous inputs (NARX) network-based IFD scheme developed for the rear stroke sensor of motorcycle semi-active suspension systems. Main novelties dealt with the proposal of a structured approach based on a five-step procedure for the optimization of the microcontroller's firmware production, with the aim of warranting the real-time operating, constraining the current consumption and reducing the clock frequency. Both simulation and experimental results are reported to show and quantify the importance and the actual impact of the proposed optimization steps.
