Hybrid model of radio channels occupancy prediction for dynamic spectrum access

Jerzy Łopatka, Krzysztof Malon, Michał Kryk · 2018

Electromagnetic environment resources are limited, but are utilized more than ever due to the increasing number of users and required bandwidth, but the current process of assigning exclusive users to specific frequency channels is very inefficient. Various methods are considered to improve spectrum utilization, including spectrum sharing models. Spectrum agile systems can search for unused channels and transmit in `spectrum white spaces', without disturbing licensed users. One of the most important issues is to ensure optimal selection of white spaces, which contain sufficient resources for signal transmission with maximum probability. To improve and optimize the white space searching algorithm, a hybrid model of the channel occupancy prediction is proposed.
