Real-time time difference of arrival estimation for moving wideband acoustic sources
Alexander Sedunov · Proceedings of meetings on acoustics · 2016
The application of a modified generalized cross-correlation is applied to finding the time difference of arrival (TDOA) and resolving the angle of arrival toward moving targets of using a modified method for estimating the magnitude squared coherence (MSC), depending on the hypothesized differential Doppler compensation parameter values that are based on a running average of cross-spectrum. The parameter that optimizes the MSC in the band containing most of the target’s of interest signature is used to compute the cross-correlation using deskewed short-time cross-correlation (DSTC) on spectrogram computed using overlapped segments and applying time shift in the frequency domain to each segment, then performing an Inverse Fourier Transform. Such approach reduces the number of operations to be performed and has applications in real-time systems.
