Wavelet decomposition transform system based on FPGA

The Mallat algorithm of wavelet transform is introduced, and a new scheme for wavelet decomposition transform system based on FPGA is proposed in this paper. FIR IP core is used to design filter-bank module to filter signals. Other modules such as signal-data-selection module are designed to achieve multi-layer wavelet decomposition transform by recycling the filter bank. The functions of all the modules are completed by VHDL language. The compilation and simulation are made under QuartusII software. Results show that the system can achieve multi-layer wavelet decomposition transform with higher accuracy in calculation and less consumption in hardware resources.
