Concurrent uplink transmissions for the licensed-assisted access in LTE-A networks

We propose an effective mechanism to improve the uplink transmission of the LTE-LAA by letting the small cell (SC) compete for the unlicensed uplink access on behalf of all surrounding UEs. We show that when a SC competes for the transmission opportunity, the probability of success increases for both Wi-Fi users and LTE users due to less contention. We simulate the mechanism in comparison to the standards and show that the proposed mechanism enhances the bandwidth efficiency and access delay.
