This paper aims at analyzing the outcome of the new Pixel Value differencing approach by embedding data in different file formats. Data is hidden in the spatial domain of the image. The new Steganographic method is based on the difference between the value of the secret message and the value of the cover image pixel. In other PVD approaches embedding is done taking into consideration the difference between adjacent pixels in the cover image. To analyze the efficiency of the method, the values of MSE (Mean Square Error), PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) and Mean Error Rate are calculated and compared while embedding in various file formats. The idea behind this comparative study is to find the best file format that can be selected for effective steganographic communication. The file formats jpeg, bmp, png and tiff are considered.
