In target monitoring model of wireless sensor networks, the phantom source node is near to real source node in the phantom routing algorithm, which will reduce the network safety period. A source-location privacy protection algorithm based on node distance is proposed in this paper. With coordinate information of transition node and sending node, the algorithm establishes a straight line equation to calculate the coordinates of the expected phantom source node, which provides the basis for selecting the phantom source node. By calculating the distance, the selected phantom source node is away from the real source node. The experimental results show that the algorithm improves the safety period of sensor networks effectively in the condition of less communication cost, achieving the purpose of protecting the source location privacy effectively compared with the existing source location privacy protection algorithms.
