Internet threat monitoring (ITM) has been extensively performed by several organizations. To effectively analyze and grasp the trends of various security threats on the Internet, efficient analysis and event detection from traffic observed by ITM systems are desired. This paper reports the first attempt to adopt a network-state evaluation method which focuses on the occurrence probability matrices of the correlation coefficient of traffic observables for event detection in traffic observed by an ITM system.
