Image Watermarking is used to protect the digital images from unauthentic access and modification. This study put forward an essential modification to the recently proposed image watermarking algorithm in the paper entitled Block-based SVD image watermarking in spatial and transform domains [1]. Robust image watermarking is used to recognize the actual owner of the host image. The robust watermarking scheme proposed by Ghazy et al. [1] is faulty and the same is shown in this study. This scheme [1] suffers from false positive error and so it is not appropriate to figure out the rightful ownership of watermarked image. The significance and effect of false positive error in image watermarking, particularly to the methods of Ghazy et al. [1] is studied in this work. This study also discusses few methods to get rid of the false positive issue and their limitation. Finally, principal component based approach is incorporated into the scheme of Ghazy et al. [1] in order to make it free from false positive problem.
