Optimum Experimental Design by Shape Optimization of Specimens in Linear Elasticity
Tommy Etling, Roland Herzog · SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics · 2018
The identification of Lamé parameters in linear elasticity is considered. An optimum experimental design problem is formulated, which aims at minimizing the size of an associated confidence ellipsoid by optimizing the shape of the specimen. Representations of the Eulerian shape derivative and the shape gradient are derived by means of shape calculus and adjoint techniques. Numerical experiments are conducted, yielding specimens of improved shape.
