Belief networks in maintenace information systems
Tirelli, Enco, Dragan Martinović, Dragan Čišić · 2000
A belief network (also known as a Bayesian network or probabilistic causal network) captures believed relations (which may be uncertain, stochastic, or imprecise) between a set of variables which are relevant to some problem. Usage of the belief networks in computerized maintenance information systems is discussed in the paper. Belief network represents expert system knowledge base, and the probabilistic inference results in a set of beliefs in each network node. Furthermore, besides the theoretical description an example regarding ships systems is additionally explored..
