José Á. Concepción-Sánchez, Pino Caballero‐Gil, Jonay Suárez-Armas, Néstor Álvarez-Díaz · 2017

By improving the mobility of elderly people, an improvement in their independence, quality of life and active participation in society is achieved. For them, the public transport service becomes the most important way to move from one place to another. However, using this type of transport can be difficult and confusing, even for people with normal cognitive and sensory abilities. In this way, this work describes the idea and the operation of a system composed of a mobile application and a server that will allow guiding these people through the means of transport in a simpler way. To do this, among other features, the mobile application makes use of a beacons-based localisation system using Bluetooth Low Energy instance of GPS and integrates a recommendation system based on fuzzy logic, while the server is responsible for calculating the optimal route for the journeys that users want to do.
