The current workforce cybersecurity skills gap has reached a critical level. Rapidly increasing the number of personnel well-trained in cybersecurity will require a multi-pronged and concerted effort by most nations. A best-practice in cybersecurity education is the use of hands-on exercises. We have successfully used a hands-on tutorial-style approach to teaching cybersecurity skills. Preparing these hands-on tutorials requires significant time and resources. In this article, we describe eight free hands-on Network Security tutorials. The tutorials are: Encryption with OpenSSL, Firewall Management, Network Firewalls, NMap and NetCat, Wireshark, Vulnerability Scanning, and Virtual Networks. Instructors may freely use and modify these tutorials to teach network security skills. All tutorials are freely available at: https://github.com/CEREStutorials/NetSec.
